It has been seven years since I last posted on here, and during that time I’ve just sorta sat back and taken a peek at my postcard collection once a year without really adding to it outside of a few cards here and there.
However, I’ve recently lost my wife, partner and best friend of 31 years, Rebecca, who humored my postcard and road sign fetish and actually even encouraged me from time to time. I recognized I never really finished this postcard project online, and lord knows I’ve both got the time and space to do so, and it’s a welcome distraction. I even found some new cards on a grief road trip and eBay to share with you!
Here’s a lovely 1963 postcard promoting the upcoming World’s Fair in New York City – Queens, right? – with a couple of apple-cheeked 1960s little dumplings. I think it’s an outstanding way to bring back the Postcard Motel – now not merely about motels any longer, but keeping the name anyway!
